Merrimack Aikido is proud to host several high level Tomiki Aikido of the Americas instructors (including Moe Stevens, Robert King and Ari Reinstein) for a weekend of training on the weapons section of Koryu Dai San no Kata. This challenging and often neglected portion of the curriculum utilizes the tanto (knife), bokken (wooden sword) and jo or yari (staff) to demonstrate aiki at distances outside of arm’s reach. There are 34 techniques in total which, together with the 16 techniques of the Goshin no Kata (kneeling and standing) comprise Koryu Dai San no Kata.
The price for the weekend is $40. This covers the use of the facility, a meal on Saturday. Juniors/Youth (under 18) pay $20 to participate in the junior/youth workshop on Friday. Some youth may, at the instructor’s discretion, participate in the weapons training. They will need to pay the full $40.
Those traveling from out of state should plan to fly into Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT). We can arrange to have you picked up at the airport or you can rent a vehicle.
We will be arranging a corporate rate for hotel stays at the Hampton Inn, Bedford, NH. Rooms are $105 per night and must be reserved ahead of time with Erik DiVietro ahead of time.
